Sports Specialist - Metairie
The Goldring-Woldenberg JCC - Metairie seeks a Sports Specialist. This position is full time working Sundays through Thursdays throughout the year. Some days will involve closing the building at 10 PM.
- Assist and lead in the coordination, oversight, and staffing of all athletic programming at the Metairie JCC to include all indoor and outdoor athletic leagues for adults and children.
- Teacher for two days of Physical Education classes each week, in conjunction with the New Orleans Jewish Day School schedule.
- Manage and supervise all Sports & Wellness Department related programming at the Uptown JCC location during evening and/or weekend hours scheduled. These programs include, but are not limited to, fitness, sports, and aquatics.
- Supervise operation of the Metairie JCC Fitness Center including opening or closing the facility when scheduled.
- Act as first responder to all emergencies and incidences (medical or otherwise) when on duty.
- Substitute for employees when coverage is needed. In the event that someone does not show up for a shift and no one can substitute for that shift, you are to assume the duties of that staff person.
- Develop ongoing relationships with members in order to enhance programming.
- Ensure the overall cleanliness, safety, and security of the facility. This will include taking it upon yourself to help out with cleaning and/or laundry duties, empowering staff to make sure that all activities at the JCC are completed in the most safe and secure manner, mandating that all members be checked in at the fitness desk and non-members be turned away from member-only programming, and coordinating staff to make sure that each of these jobs gets done.
- Direct support to the Sports & Wellness Management Team, attending quarterly Sports Department meetings within and outside of the department, acting in a leadership role to all employees in the department, and managing the facility when needed.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of program budgets with the Sports Director.
- Marketing and promotion of Sports Programs with the Sports Director and/or Marketing Director.
- Participation and staffing of general JCC community programs, fundraisers, and other special staff assignments.
- Assist in the development of entire program area, to include creation of new programs, elimination of some programs, and changes within with the Sports Director.
- Supervision of coaches, referees, scorekeepers, and fitness staff as needed.

- BBYO and BBYO Connect
- Develop relationships with BBYO teens and inspire and support teens by creating leadership development opportunities and serving as a Jewish role model
- Recruit, train and supervise BBYO advisors
- Serve as the BBYO liaison to parents, Jewish organizations and the community at large
- Build collaborative partnerships with Jewish and secular community organizations and reach out to the entire community to engage new teens in BBYO.
- Attend and supervise local BBYO programming, as scheduled, often on evenings and on weekends.
- Organize transportation, staff and recruit teens to attend regional BBYO events
- Facilitate communication regarding BBYO and its programs to BBYO members, potential members, parents, community organizations and regional office as needed.
- Develop and oversee four BBYO Connect programs per year
- Assistant Day Camp Director responsibilities
- Work closely with the camp team all year to collectively plan all camp events
- Develop and implement a CIT program
- JCCA Maccabi responsibilities
- Middle school classes and programs such as Drivers Ed
- Collaborative youth programs and other Jewish organizations such as J-Serve
- Assist in birthday parties and mini camps when available

The New Orleans JCC - Uptown seeks qualified, responsible individuals to serve as lifeguards for the 2012 pool season. Applicants must be certified lifeguards, or willing and able to complete the JCC Lifeguard Certification Course.

Licensed Cosmetologist - Uptown
The New Orleans JCC - Uptown is looking for a cosmetologist, Monday - Friday. Individual has to be able to do manicures, pedicures, waxing and facials. Must have minimum 2-3 years experience in the field. Must be reliable and professional and have good customer relations skills.

Group Exercise Instructors – Metairie
The Goldring-Woldenberg JCC - Metairie seeks certified and experienced group exercise instructors to conduct fitness classes. Instructor must be able to:
- design routines
- show exercise modifications
- motivate class participants
- conduct a safe and effective class
Candidate must meet the following qualifications: minimum 1-year teaching experience; an appropriate group fitness certification by a nationally recognized certification group; current CPR/AED certification , a high school diploma or GED.
Instructors currently sought to teach Yoga, Pilates, Spin, Step, Zumba, and Body Conditioning. Compensation based upon experience.

The New Orleans JCC - Uptown seeks certified group exercise instructors. Join our team and be a part of our expansive group exercise schedule with over 50 classes per week. Instructor must be able to design routines, show exercise modifications and motivate class participants. The instructor must be able to conduct a safe and effective class while meeting the following qualifications: an appropriate group fitness certification by a nationally recognized certification group; current CPR/AED certification. Instructors currently sought to teach: Mat Pilates, Step, and Sculpt. Pay is based upon experience.
