Research proves the lifelong importance of exercising body and mind. For senior adults, the JCC offers resources to keep you engaged. Drawing on decades of experience — and input from JCC members — activities are available that address the social, cultural and physical needs of people over age 65. At the facilities both in New Orleans and Metairie, you can join exercise classes, discussion groups, or game clubs. The program is rounded out with guest speakers, performances, and trips to local cultural centers. Simcha Luncheons, held once a month, celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, the accomplishments of grandchildren — and anything else worth celebrating! Most of all, you celebrate the joy of giving and growing in a supportive circle of friends.
We’ve added a new class! Because two days of exercise just isn’t enough, now you can exercise with the JCC seniors three times a week. Join us on Mondays now, as well as Tuesday and Thursday. This class is designed for seniors at all levels and abilities. Either exercise from a chair or standing, according to your comfort level. This class involves stretching and strength training. Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes. Check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.
