The New Orleans JCC is tuning up for this year's JCC Maccabi ArtsFest and your artistically talented teen needs to be a part of it. The JCC Maccabi ArtsFest program is a weeklong event for Jewish Teens entering grades 8-12 to engage with fellow artists and artists-in-residence from around the world.
BOYS & GIRLS ART DISCIPLINES: Acting-Improv, Culinary Arts, Rock Music, Broadcast Journalism, Visual Arts, Dance, Photography, Jazz and Vocal Music
*Please note that spaces on Team New Orleans will be based on Tryouts. We cannot guarantee that you will receive a spot on Team New Orleans, we have only 2 spots for Artists this year. You may tryout for two art disciplines.
Teen artists spend the majority of each day in master classes led by a professional artist-in-residence, preparing for the closing talent showcase. In the evenings, teens relax with their host family, enjoy social events at the JCC, and participate special activities in the local community. During the week artists will participate in a "Day of Caring and Sharing" service project to in the host community. Thursday is spent preparing exhibits and performances for the final showcase. Formal appreciation of excellence is part of each art specialty.
Each artist-in-residence establishes requirements for participation, which range from a strong interest in a particular art specialty to auditions at the JCC to proven ability through the submission of audio/and or video tapes. Jessica Klein, your New Orleans JCC delegation head, will explain the specific requirements for your specialty at the information meeting. Once a delegation head confirms that a teen is eligible to participate, registration is completed online.
