Early Childhood Summer Day Camp

Check back in early January for 2011 rates and dates! 2011 registration evening will be Monday, March 14 at 5:30 PM.

The Jewish Community Center’s Early Childhood Summer Camps, directed by our professional Nursery School Director and Assistant Director, are designed to enhance the preschool experience for your young child.  Campers who currently attend the JCC Nursery School will benefit from continuity of care, enjoying summer in a familiar environment.  For JCC newcomers, camp is a chance to experience the diversity of our membership and the loving support given by our staff. The experienced counselors provide each child with developmentally appropriate activities in the areas of art, music and sports.  In addition, all children will participate in daily water play activities. Three- and four-year olds will also have the opportunity to participate in swim lessons led by our certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors.

The most important aspect of our program is the authentic play experiences your child will have each day at camp. We know that young children need the space and materials, and guidance by caring and qualified adults to explore independently and in groups. Our counselors help each child acquire knowledge, build self-esteem and learn problem solving skills.  At the JCC Summer Day Camp, youngsters have fun while building the social and emotional foundations needed for future success in a changing world.

K’ Ton Ton - "Little Ones" - 2010

Age: 21 – 36 Months
Uptown Only

K’ton ton offers a loving experience for your first-time camper.  Your child’s day at camp will mirror his/her day at nursery school with moments of active exploration, independent play, teacher directed activities and quiet reflection.  Experienced K’ton ton staff is trained in early childhood development and understands the toddler. Campers will enjoy water play, art projects, stories, songs, block building and much more.

Chaverim - "Friends" - 2010

Age: 3 and 4
Uptown and Metairie

Chaverim is where the camp experience begins!  Campers participate in swim lessons led by our professionally trained American Red Cross swim instructors, create art and crafts projects, learn songs, play games and get active in sports.  Every activity and experience is geared toward the pre-school aged child.  Experienced head teachers guide your child through a busy day of fun and friendship.

Children must be potty-trained in order to participate in either Chaverim group.  Age 3 as of June 1, 2010.
