Movies from Israel, the United States and other countries get a showcase at the New Orleans Jewish Film Festival — a joint project of the JCC and the Shir Chadash Conservative Congregation. The festival brings attention to films that address Jewish themes and timely issues which deserve a wider audience because of their dramatic value.

New Orleans Jewish Film Festival.
$5 per movie, includes popcorn, soft drinks and snacks.
7:30 PM –“The Matchmaker," directed by Avi Nesher, is a twist and turn story not just about finding love, but also finding out about secrets. The film follows Arik, an Israeli-born teenage boy who gets a summer job with a mysterious matchmaker named Yankele Bride. Bride takes him on a dangerous coming of age ride into the urban underbelly of Haifa during the time of the Six Day War.
"The Matchmaker" will make you laugh as it warms your heart. It was the winner of the Audience Choice Award at the 25th Annual New York Israeli Film Festival, as well as the Toronto International Film Festival 2010, and four Israeli Academy Awards 2010 including Best Actor and Best Actress.
